Longboat Key Information
The population of Longboat Key is approximately 8,380 and grows to over 20,000
during the winter months.
The Gulf of Mexico and Sarasota Bay surround the eleven-mile long island.
Gulf of Mexico Drive is the main street that runs the length of the island, past
golf courses, condominiums and beautiful neighborhoods, both gated and
non-gated.
Longboat Key (LBK) is located south of St. Petersburg and west of Sarasota and
Bradenton. Longboat Key is 11 miles long, the second in a line of barrier
islands on the Gulf Coast of Florida just south of Tampa Bay. The north part
of the island is in Manatee County and the southern part is in Sarasota County.
Access to Longboat Key is by one of two bridges, St. Armands Key on the south to
Sarasota and the bridge on the north crosses to Anna Maria Island, which
connects to Bradenton. The Longboat Key zip code is 34228.
