Theater

Theatre visits offer many choices such as The French Film Festival, the Asolo Theatre Company, Florida Studio Theatre, Island Players, Lemon Bay Playhouse, Theatre Works, plus many additional.

Music interest? Enjoy the community’s own ballet and symphonies in intimate settings. Check out the Florida West Coast Symphony, Key Chorale, the Jazz Club, Sara. Ballet of Florida, Sara. Blues Society. Opera Association, or the Sarasota Concert Band.

The beautiful, 1736 seat, Roskamp Auditorium was recently renovated in 2001 thanks to a generous $1,000,000 contribution from Sarasota residents Bob and Diane Roskamp. The original European seat theatre was designed by commissioned chief architect, William Wesley Peters. Legend performers such as Tony Bennet have been known to express their regard of the acoustical dynamics by stopping the orchestra to present an acappella solo to the audience in appreciation.

Art

John and Mabel Ringling brought a sense of appreciation for the arts, and the philosophy of preservation for paintings, sculpture, architecture and performance that helped  Sarasota become what it is today.

Sarasota offers more than 30 golf courses sprinkled throughout the county, challenging all levels of play and budgets. Readers of Florida Golf News voted for the "Top 20 Southwest Regional Golf Courses", and 9 of those 20 are in the Sarasota area. Additionally, there are four local courses that are in the top 100 places to play in Florida. So grab your clubs and enjoy a round!

One-of-a-kind gifts are abundant on St. Armands Circle and dining experiences are as varied as you would like. Dine with the intimate glow of candles, with gauzy white drapes fluttering in the tropical breeze at night or on the Circle, where the action is!

Sports in Sarasota

 There are plenty of great courts serving up tennis, and don't miss the opportunity for an autograph when Major League Baseball begins spring training. Tampa is just an hour away to watch the best sports teams in the world play ball. Enjoy Ice skating? Check the rink at the Ellenton Exit on I-75.
